Bareilly (UP), Jun 22: Eleven persons, including a Nagar Palika (Municipality) Chairman, were today injured in firing when two groups clashed over possession of a land belonging to a religious body in Aonla area near here, police said.
The incident took place when two groups vying for possession of 25 bigha agricultural land of a religious body were called by Nagar Palika Chairman Sayed Abid Ali for a meeting during which the clash occurred, police said. Besides Ali, 10 persons received pellet injuries in the firing by both sides that ensued during the clash, they said.
All the injured were rushed to a hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, they said. Counter FIRs have been registered on the complaint by both the groups, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said. Further probe in the matter is underway, the SP said.
