Mumbai: TV actress arrested in prostitution racket

Mumbai, Aug 6: The Social Service Branch (SSB) of Mumbai Police on Monday, Aug 3 arrested a television actress in a high-profile sex racket.

The actress, who has been arrested, has reportedly acted in popular Crime show 'Savdhaan India". The arrest took place at a hotel in Amboli in Andheri (West) Mumbai. The police acted after getting a tip off.

In an attempt to arrest the culprits red-handedly, police laid a trap. They sent one of their source, to pose as a fake customer, who approached a 27-year-old agent Raj Shinde.

Shinde, a resident of Lokhandwala, showed photographs of some girls to the person and a deal was finalised at Rs 15,000.

The woman who was selected turned out to be a TV actress and then she was caught red-handedly with two other women, involved in the prostitution racket.

While talking to a daily, police inspector Vilas Datir said that agent Shinde has been taken into police custody.

"He has been booked under the prevention of immoral trafficking act", a news report said.

Police official was quoted saying as, "The actress who has acted in several daily soaps and done modeling assignments was not arrested but rescued from the sex racket and the operator of the racket was slapped with section 370 (3) of the IPC."

Huge amount of cash and mobile phones have also been seized from that hotel. Meanwhile, the actress and other two women have been sent to a rehabilitation centre.
