Meanwhile there were traffic jams reported all over the city including at the Eastern and Western Express Highway.
The Maharashtra Government has issued an order for all offices to let employees return home early. The order was issued in the wake of heavy rains and a high tide being predicted by the IMD.
Earlier Aditya Thackeray of the Shiv Sena which governs the municipality said offices must not close early because the roads are already clogged with thousands of commuters.

"A request to all at offices, stay put in offices till the rains subside. High tide around 4 pm. Heavy rains predicted bet Met dept," he tweeted.

Meanwhile there were traffic jams reported all over the city including at the Eastern and Western Express Highway. Train services were disrupted and flights were delayed.
Suburban services were disrupted with trains on all the three lines western, central and harbour running late.
The BMC has however said that there is no cause for panic. It however urged people not to venture on to the roads.
