Mumbai, Nov 26: A 15-year-old girl was gangraped by her friends. The incident, which took place in Mumbai, came into light when her aunt received a video clip on WhatsApp.
The four accused, who too are 15-year-old, raped the girl repeatedly and recorded the incident in their mobile phone. The accused threatened the girl not to reveal anything to her family members.
However, one of the accused sent the video to other friends. Gradually, the video became viral on messaging app, WhatsApp. All four accused have been arrested and were sent to a juvenile home in the city.
It was reported that the accused had called the girl to help them in studies. When she arrived at the home of one of the accused, they raped her.
The incident took place on Nov 2, the girl did not inform her family members. Father of the victim passed away and her mother works in abroad. She stays with her sister, aunt and grandmother.
She was scared to tell anything about the incident as she was threatened by the accused. However, her aunt saw the video on WhatsApp and filed police complaint.
All four accused have been booked under Section 376 (G) (gang rape) of the IPC, as well as under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Speaking about the case, one police official was quoted as saying, "All four were produced before a juvenile court, after which they were sent to the Dongri correction home, where they will be questioned by a child welfare officer."
