Molestation victim's family tweets to Yogi Adityanath, action follows
A family from Kanpur that tweeted to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on a molestation incident was glad to see swift action. The family that resides in Kalyanpur police station limits tweeted to Adityanath and the director general of police, alleging lackadaisical attitude of the cops when they filed a complaint.
According to a PTI report, the incident took place on Holi when local youths in an inebriated condition barged into the house of the family and began molesting a woman and her daughter. When the woman's husband protested, the perpetrators allegedly started thrashing him.
The
victims
approached
the
local
police,
who
registered
a
case
of
assault
but
allegedly
ignored
several
other
charges.
The
family
then
tweeted
to
Adityanah's
office
and
the
DGP
seeking
stringent
action.
The
local
police
received
directions
directly
from
the
DGP
office.
"I
received
a
call
from
the
DGP's
office
in
Lucknow
shortly
after
the
man
tweeted
asking
for
help.
I
was
told
to
promptly
submit
a
report
in
the
case.
I
personally
visited
the
family
and
also
arranged
for
their
medical
examination,"
Superintendent
of
Police
(west)
Sachindra
Patel
said.
The SP also confirmed that additional charges were taken up against the accused. The tweet also ensured that the family received protection.
