New Delhi, July 21: Once again, on Friday, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi blamed the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for the present turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir.

"I have been asserting for long that it's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his policies at the Centre that have destroyed Jammu and Kashmir. (Mai kaafi samay se keh raha hoon ki Narendra Modi ji aur NDA ki policies ne Jammu Kashmir ko jala diya hai)," Rahul told reporters.

The Congress VP also disagreed with former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah's assertion that a third party can be approached for the settlement of the Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.

"This (Kashmir) is our internal matter and nobody has the right to interfere in it. I don't agree that Kashmir should be discussed with China or Pakistan. Kashmir is India and India is Kashmir," he added.

The former J&K CM said that India should approach third parties, such as the United States and China, to mediate in the Kashmir issue, earlier on Friday.

Adbullah added India has so many allies across the globe, which can be approached for settling the Kashmir issue to act as a mediator between India and Pakistan.

"For how long are you going to wait? Sometimes, you have to take the bull by the horns. The way is to have a dialogue. India has so many friends all across the world. They can ask them to act as a mediator.

US President Trump himself said that he wants to settle the Kashmir problem. China also said that it wants to mediate in Kashmir. Somebody has to be approached," Abdullah said.

Often, Rahul has criticised Modi and his government's policies for large-scale violence in the state, especially since July last year.

"Modi's policies have created space for terrorists in Kashmir. Grave strategic blow for India," Rahul had earlier tweeted.

"Short term political gain for Modi from PDP alliance has cost India massively. Modi's personal gain=India's strategic loss + sacrifice of innocent Indian blood," the tweet added.

The BJP, on its part, has rubbished Rahul's charges against the Modi government over the Kashmir problem. Several of the BJP leaders called Rahul an "immature" leader.
