Rajnath Singh, who arrived here to meet the Gujarat chief minister, Wednesday said he has been talking to Modi over phone but it was not possible to hold the entire discussion without sitting face-to-face.
He said he decided to fly down to share the "experience of campaigning". Rajnath Singh met Modi just two days ahead of the counting of votes that were cast in the general elections.
"This is definite that Modi will be prime minister," Rajnath Singh told reporters.
Asked about role of party patriarch L.K. Advani, Rajnath Singh said that he will call a meeting of senior party leaders. He said role of senior leaders will be decided after consultations with them.
Most exit polls have predicted a victory for BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections that were held from April 7 to May 12. Asked who will replace Modi as Gujarat chief minister, Rajnath Singh said: "You will soon get to know about it."
