Modi's Mumbai rally: Tea vendors get special invite
Mumbai, Dec 19: Guess who are among the special invitees at Narendra Modi's upcoming rally in Mumbai? Around 10,000 roadside tea vendors.

The BJP's prime ministerial candidate worked as a tea vendor at Ahmedabad railway station before entering politics. Leaders from other parties have often sneered at him for the very same reason.

The Mumbai rally, scheduled to be held at Bandra-Kurla Complex on Sunday, will be attended by tea vendors from Mumbai city, Thane and Navi Mumbai.

"We've already extended invitations to 10,000 tea vendors in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai," said Bhalchandra Shirshat, a former corporator of the party. "There will be a special area at the venue which will be earmarked to accommodate the tea vendors", reported DNA.

The rally will kick-start election campaigns in the city for the 2014 general elections.

Apart from teavendors, the rally will have representatives from all foreign consulates.

"We're campaigning on a massive scale and using various media to get maximum participation. We are going door-to-door for the same," said advocate Ashish Shelar chief of the party's city unit, as reported by DNA.

BJP has decided to use novel methods to enrich people's participation in the rally. According to the sources, party workers carry a special phone number on which people, who wish to attend the rally, should give a missed call.

An organiser will then call them back, take down their number and residential address and arrange to pick them up on the day of the rally. Brilliant !
