The 'Modifying India' tees have been launched by a Delhi based group as part of its campaign.
Campaigners are also launching a pepper spray at a reduced cost for women
The T-shirts come with an image of Modi with the message 'I support Narendra Modi for PM' in the front. The back side sports logo of a steaming tea cup replete with a message in Hindi: 'Ek chaiwala PM kyu nahi ban sakta? Jisne Gujarat badla hain who Hindustan kyu nahi badal sakta? Modi mera PM.'
"A large number of tea vendors sustain themselves by selling tea across the country. The chaiwala jibe hurled at Modiji has been an insult to all of them and we have now launched T-shirts for the chaiwalas, with a message in this regard," Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena convener Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga said.
SP leader Naresh Agarwal had made the chaiwala comment against Modi. "Someone rising from a tea shop can never have a national perspective," he had said.
"We plan to distribute 10 lakh T-shirts among the tea vendors across the country before the elections. While we are doing this on our own in Delhi, we have requested people to come forward and help us in other places," Bagga said, adding they have already established contacts in 23 cities.
Interestingly, the BJP is also gearing up to invite as many as 10,000 tea vendors for Modi's December 22 rally at Mumbai in the Congress-NCP ruled Maharashtra.
The campaigners are also launching a pepper spray at a reduced cost for women. The pepper spray, priced at 195, will come with a message from Modi. The product is expected to be launched by this week itself.
