The meeting being described by media reports as ‘Diwali tea' and others as just ‘high tea', would begin at around 6.30 pm in the evening.
Earlier on June 4, PM Modi hold a meeting with 77 secretaries and senior officers of all the ministries and departments and had asked them to take decisions. He also encouraged them to approach him with their inputs and ideas to make the Government people friendly.
In the two-and-a-half hours meeting, the Prime Minister expressed 'full faith in their commitment and competence to build a better future for the country.'
The Prime Minister called upon the senior bureaucrats to simplify and streamline the administrative rules and procedures to make them people-friendly. The Prime Minister asked the secretaries to identify and do away with archaic rules and procedures as "they are leading to avoidable confusion."
