Modi said that it was not just important to remember various articles of the Constitution but also be connected with the Constitution. "We celebrate January 26 with great enthusiasm but we must also remember- without November 26, we could not celebrate January 26."

Speaking about demonetisation at the event, Modi said: "Those criticising the demonetisation move don't have a problem with government's preparedness. They have problem that they didn't get time to prepare."

"The common citizen of India has become a soldier against corruption and black money," Modi said. "India has often ranked low in global rankings on corruption. We need to improve it," he added.

Over the years people have forgotten their duties under the Constitution but only remember their rights, Modi added.
