Model critical after being shot at by 'husband' in Delhi's Ashram

New Delhi, April 19: A 22-year-old aspiring model was allegedly shot at by her male friend at her home in Ashram, south Delhi, on Friday night.

According to reports, the accused, a property dealer identified as Prince, was reportedly in a relationship with the victim, Neha Sharma, and had married her secretly a few months ago.

Neha, who was shot in the stomach and back, was rushed to Trauma Center of AIIMS. Her condition was said to be stable.

The accused, Prince, is on the run and police has launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.

Neha who was earlier based in Mumbai and has appeared in some reality shows during the period, was living with her parents and younger sister at the Hari Nagar house for the past four months, police said.

"A few days ago, a youth named Prince came to the Sharmas' residence and introduced himself as Neha's husband. She too told her parents that they had married five months ago in a temple and it was not disclosed to their families," said a senior police official.

Prince stayed with the family and on Friday night while every one was sleeping, he allegedly came in an inebriated condition and picked up a fight with Neha and he took a pistol and allegedly shot at her. He fired twice hitting her in the abdomen, the officer added.

She was rushed to AIIMS and admitted to the ICU. The local police reached the spot of incident and carried out investigations while the accused was absconding, he added.
