Harnek Singh, an advocate, had gone for trekking in the mountainous of Bundlaon on September 1, police said.

His family members lost contact with him and they lodged a report with police on September 3, Sub Divisional Officer (SDM), Palampur, Ajit Bhardwaj told PTI.

"On September 4, five teams of about 30 people that included 2 police teams and the teams of local residents proceeded for the search and rescue of the trekker. Two teams stayed in the area for the night and reached back on the evening of September 5. They could not trace him," police said.

A team of about 20 people that included the Bir Biling based mountaineering trained group of 3 persons and the local residents who are well versed with the topography of the area searched for him today as well but without any results.

Harnek is a frequent trekker and had been often travelling in that area. The area where he went missing is a dense forest with a lot of vegetation of scrubs and grasses, police said.
