Mikes flung, chairs hurled: TN assembly adjourned after speaker walks out

Absolute drama was witnessed in the TN assembly on Saturday, when DMK and OPS cadres hurled chairs and demanded the floor test be put off

The Tamil Nadu legislative assembly has been adjourned to 1 pm after Speaker Dhanpal who was heckled by the DMK MLAs walked out. Dhanpal, was gheraoed had to be rescued by the marshals in the assembly.

Ruckus in assembly

There was absolute chaos in the assembly after DMK MLAs tore papers, flung mikes and hurled chairs. DMK MLA Ku Ka Selvam even sat on the speaker's chair in protest. The DMK and the OPS camp repeatedly demanded that the trust vote be held through a secret ballot.

Dhanpal, however refused to give in and said he takes the final call in the House. The DMK MLAs however refused to relent and continued to create chaos in the house. The DMK also questioned the need to have a floor test in such a hurry. DMK leader M K Stalin asked why the test was being held in such a hurry when the governor had given them 15-day time.

The MLA part of the OPS group too demanded that the floor test be put off. They said that the MLAs should be allowed to first visit their respective constituencies before the a was conducted.
