Lucknow, Aug 7: It seems to be playing right out of the screen. A man from Palipoorab village had to get his wife married off to her lover 'happily'. Chanda, a resident of Bikapur village of Faizabad was in love with Suraj of the same village. But she had to relent to her parents' pressure and got married to Phoolchand in 2012.
Phoolchand was happy with his marriage, but had to immediately leave the village to be at Jalandhar to earn money.
Although husband and wife spoke to each other over the phone regularly, love blossomed further between Suraj and Chanda. Suraj visited his relative's house at Palipoorad on the pretsxt of meeting Chanda and the latter too ensured that they met.
When Phoolchand came back on August 4, Chanda shocked him by handing over everything that she had received from him during marriage. Phoolchand, however, took it sportingly and said,""I was happy that she relied on me and told me the truth. I got angry and sad for some time but decided to take out a solution." After discussing the matter with his parents, Phoolchand went to Chanda's village and confronted the village panchayat asking them to allow Chanda to get married to Suraj, especially when he did not have a problem with that.
"I kept forward my suggestion that Chanda and sooraj whould be allowed to marry and I have no objections", Phoolchand said. The Panchayat finally agreed after a long argument. Following this, Sooraj and his family members married Chanda off at the village's shiv mandir. Not only that, Phoolchand also organised a huge banquet and also gave vidaai gifts to the newly married couple.
The village head of Bikapur said,"This shows the mental level and strength of our youths these days and we salute Phoolchand for this brave step. It is better to accept the truth and act accordingly than to linger on with a forced relationship throughout life."
