The four pillars of democracy are always under scrutiny. In a country where everyone has an opinion, there are often debates on which is the strongest pillar of democracy. Is it the Legislature, executive, judiciary and the press.
India's largest e-pollster MyVoteToday ran a poll to find out which pillar of democracy is the weakest. The poll got 30,358 votes out of which 50 per cent said that the media was the weakest. 25 per cent said it was the judiciary while 10 per cent said it was the legislature.
Amit Bagaria, Founder and CEO of MyVoteToday says that this Poll got 8 to10 times more votes than what Paid Media shows us on TV, and hence it is not a joke.
If half the nation thinks media is the weakest pillar of Indian Democracy then the Indian Media needs to wake up, Bagaria also said.
"Someone needs to say: Guys it's an SOS since we Sold Our Souls. Aroon Purie, Prannoy Roy among others have all aged and not kept up with the times. We need new owners who understand INDIA TODAY is not the same as 25 yrs ago, " he also added.
