The reason behind Panda's fast is said to be that he was being deprived of facilities meant for jail inmates.
He also said that if his demands are not met, then he continue to be on fast.
46-year-old Panda, a native of Mayurjhalia village in Nayagarh, had parted ways with the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and formed a new red outfit called Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP) in 2011.
He was also wanted in more than 50 criminal cases, including the murder of Swami Laxamananda Saraswati and four of his aides in Kandhamal district in 2008 that had triggered communal violence in the region.
His wife, Subhashree Das also supports him. [My husband is a revolutionary, not a killer, says Sabyasachi's wife]
