Mallika Sherawat in 'Dirty Politics' trouble: Case filed for 'disrespecting' National Flag

Mumbai, June 6: Bollywood's bold actress Mallika Sherawat has embroiled herself in legal trouble as she has courted controversy by draping herself with the Tricolour in her upcoming movie 'Dirty Politics'.

The provocative poster of the film had raised many eyebrows as Mallika is seen wrapped only in the Tricolour.

According to a HT report, 24-year-old law graduate Sumit Kumar has filed a complaint against Mallika and film director K C Bokadia for allegedly disrespecting the national flag. If convicted they can face up-to 3 years of imprisonment.

The movie Dirty Politics is based on the infamous case of Bhanwari Devi sex scandal and Mallika, who is reportedly playing the role of Bhanwari Devi is seen sitting on the roof of a beaconed ambassador with a CD in her hand right in front of State Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, Bokadia has maintained that the Tricolour in which Mallika is wrapped in does not resemble the Indian flag as it does not have the Ashoka Chakra.

"It has nothing to do with Tricolour nor it is any political party's symbol. Also there is no Ashoka Chakra in the centre, so essentially it is just a piece of cloth in three different colours," asserted the director.

Bokadia further added, "As far as the guidelines are concerned, the poster will be censored according to the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association guidelines. So I don't know why I am being asked by this political party to change it."

The movie that has grabbed the media attention even before its release also features veteran actors like Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Govind Namdev, Ahustosh Rana and Rajpal Yadav.
