Malegaon, Jan 19: Dilip Patidar for the National Investigation Agency is a key witness in the Malegaon blasts case. The NIA has been probing the Malegaon blasts case of 2008 and will now look into disappearance of Patidar.

On November 10 2008, Patidar was picked up by the Maharashtra ATS. He was in custody for 10 days and then allowed to return to his home town at Indore. However, he has not been traceable since then.

The NIA will now look into this mysterious disappearance of Patidar. The NIA has also approached the Union Home Ministry seeking a transfer of this case.

Mystery around the witness:

NIA officials tell OneIndia that there is no clarity on where exactly Patidar is. He has not been traceable since November 21 2008. We are not sure if he is alive, but this will have to be probed as he is a key witness in the case, the NIA says.

There are many angles to probe in this case and hence we had sought for its transfer. The CBI too had looked into this angle. During the CBI, the officers were told by the Maharashtra ATS that Patidar had returned to Indore on November 21, 2008 and has since remained untraceable.

In this case there are some recoveries that have been made and we are trying to probe if the disappearance is in any way connected, the NIA officer also added.
