Major naxal attack in Odisha foiled
New Delhi, Nov 10: A major ploy by the naxals to carry out a deadly attack in Odisha has been foiled. Atttempting a come back in the state, the naxals had sourced explosives weighing almost 15 kilograms to carry out an attack which would have one of the biggest had it succeeded.
However the intelligence alert was spot on and in a coordinated effort the security forces managed to seize the material and foil the plan hatched by the naxals.
The seizures were carried out in Narayanpatna and Koraput following a huge search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. IEDs, detonators and Claymore Mines were recovered by the Border Security Force. The BSF also recovered literature and other material meant to propagate in favour of the movement. Two IEDS of 15 kg each were recovered from Rajangapadar village.
The BSF also managed to bust a hideout used by the naxals in the Magalpur area. From the hideout the BSF recovered clamore mines among other material.
Further the operation also led to the seizure of 150 detonators, splinters, barrels, 51 gelatine sticks, muzzle loaders and other weapons. The BSF says that such operations will continue against the naxals.
They are making a desperate attempt to come back. Nayak added that the naxals are almost wiped out and any attempt to stage a comeback will be dealt with sternly, Nayak also added.
The naxals have been making desperate attempts to stage a comeback. Odisha and Telangana which have been their strongholds have been hit hard by the security forces in the recent past.
