Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are the most talked elections in the country as it has a significant impact on the national politics. In 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP had won 73 seats in UP, which played a major role in Modi becoming PM.
The SP forged an alliance with the Congress just ahead of the seven phase polling to keep BJP in check. Whether the move will pay off or not is something that will become clear on March 11, the result day.
It is interesting to note that SP patriach Mulayam Singh Yadav was not pleased with the alliance with Congress.
