Maharashtra: Woman police officer manhandled; 3 arrested
Thane, Nov 29: A woman inspector at Uttan Coastal police station was allegedly manhandled by three members of a family after they got upset with her while lodging a complaint, district rural police said today.
According to K R Yele of Uttan Coastal Police station, (Thane Rural) the incident took place yesterday when the Station Office In-charge, API Priyatama Muthe was attending to the complainants from the family.
The accused began shouting and abusing her following which they even manhandled her by grabbing her uniform collar and tearing a portion of it, following which the police station staff rushed and intervened to contained them, the complaint by Muthe said.
All the three attackers --- Shyamsunder Mandale, 48, Aaarti Mandale, 40 and Mukesh S Mandale, 21-- residents of Dhavgi Dongri in Uttan were later arrested under section 353, (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty),504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 r/w 34 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
