Maharashtra: Light Towers aid in rescue and relief ops this monsoon
Mumbai, July 12: Use of Light Towers, a petrol operated device that shoots up 20 feet beam of light in darkness, have helped disaster management officials in Maharashtra while carrying out rescue and relief operations this monsoon.
State Disaster Management Authority Director Suhas Diwase said 1,100 of such Light Towers have been given to tehsil administration and fire brigade personnel attached with civic bodies in the state.
"The light towers, which were used for the first time this monsoon have proved beneficial for officials at the tehsil level and civic officials to carry out relief and rescue operations in wake of the recent heavy downpour and floods in some parts of Maharashtra," Diwase added.
