Shocking: BJP likely to snub both Shiv Sena, NCP to form Maharashtra govt

BJP likely to snub Sena,NCP to form govt
Mumbai, Oct 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) informed that the party will take its final call regarding formation of government in Maharashtra after Diwali. However, the party did not disclose its plan of forming alliance and kept both NCP and Shiv Sena in anticipation.

Meanwhile, sources informed that BJP may take a shocking decision and is likely to snub both Shiv Sena and NCP. Media reports suggested that BJP may take support of 12 Independents.

BJP won 123 seats but it needs 22 more to form the government with the magic number of 145. If the party takes support from Independent candidates then its total number would be 135. Although BJP will not get the magic number even after taking support from Independents, the move will help BJP to approach Shiv Sena with a more comfortable position.

Sources said that BJP's decision of going with Independent candidates will reduce Shiv Sena's bargaining power to ask for posts like Chief Minister or Deputy Chief Minister. It also has been reported that BJP is taking its time as it wants the Sena back on board without conditions.

Meanwhile, sources close to BJP informed that it may not take outside support offered by NCP citing upcoming assembly elections in Jammu Kashmir and Delhi. The party may lose its credibility if it takes support from NCP which has several corruption allegations against it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier during an election rally in Maharashtra called NCP "National Corruption Party". However, BJP has not rejected the NCP's offer yet and is making the Sena sweat. BJP's top leaders and union ministers -- Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari were among the leaders who have been holding consultations on Maharashtra as the BJP weighs its options.
