Maharashtra: 100 school kids fall ill after mid-day meal
Palgarh, Feb 26: About 104 students of a zila parishad school in neighbouring Palgarh district were taken to the hospital as they complained of severe stomach ache after consuming mid-day meal.
Vikramgadh tehsildar Suresh Sonawane said,"Nearly 280 students of the ZP school at Kasa Budruk in Palghar district were served the food under mid-day meal scheme this afternoon. After eating, over 50 students immediately complained of severe stomach ache, nausea, giddiness and other health problems."
After being informed, the police and the revenue and health department officials arrived at the school. Following which, all the students were taken to the hospital for a check-up. However, out of the 280 students, 104 were hospitalised and the others were discharged.
The packed mid-day meals were supplied by the ISKCON centre at the Wada (in Palghar district). Sonawane added,"The food samples have been collected for laboratory analysis."
