Maha embarrassment! BJP Minister Pankaja Munde faces Rs 206 crore corruption chrage

Mumbai, June 25: Here is yet another embarrassment in the making for Maharashtra BJP government. Days after State education minister Vinod Tawde hit the headlines, now State women and child development minister Pankaja Munde is under the lens for wrong reasons.

Munde is facing allegation of her involvement in the scam of Rs 206 crore. It is being said that her department violated several rules and regulations in procuring materials of this huge amount.

Embarrassment continues for BJP!

According to the India Today report, defying government rules Munde cleared several orders. The rules states that a minister has to follow e-tendering process for placing orders of worth Rs more than 3 lakh, but she didn't do so.

The allegation is that in a single day Maharashtra women and child department placed 24 purchase orders to buy chikki, mats and books. The order for these materials, which were purchased for anganwadi schools were given without following proper tendering process and guidelines.

Shockingly, Pankaja who is the daughter of BJP's veteran Gopinath Munde had asked concerned authorities to cancel earlier placed order. She also reportedly told them to buy chikki through an NGO named Suryakanta Mahila Sahakari Sanstha.

Meanwhile, the Congress has reacted sharply over the issue and asked for minister's resignation.Slamming Devendra Fadnavis government, Maharashtra Congress leader Sachin Sawant has demanded that proper investigation should be done in the matter.

However, BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that he has to check the media reports first. "I am not aware of the case yet. Let us first ascertain facts. Not sure if media reports are right. Let me first know what is the case all about", skill development and entrepreneurship Rudy said.

It looks like Fadnavis government is going through tough times. Tawde fake degree row has yet not died down before this has erupted.Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde is under the fire for possessing fake engineering degree from an unrecognised university, that is not affiliated to the UGC or AICTE.
