Madurai Shocker: Illicit love affair turns costly; Husband beheads wife in front of son

Madurai, July 23: A man, who suspected his wife of infidelity, killed her in front of their 10-year-old son. The shocking incident took place in a village near Madurai, Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, July 21.

The accused, 42-year-old K Periyasamy, has been arrested. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Seelaikkari.

It has been reported that the accused suspected that his wife was having an extra marital affair with their neighbour. He earlier had warned his wife but he believed that his wife continued her relationship with the neighbour.

The couple had three children, including one boy and two daughters. Their son was the only eyewitness and he narrated the incidents following which his father killed his mother.

According to police sources, the boy along with his mother had taken cattle out for grazing. When they returned home around 4 pm, his mother was tired and lied down on bed. He, however, took his father's mobile phone and started playing games.

Suddenly, his father entered the room and started beating his mother. When the child tried to stop him, the accused thrashed his son and continued to beat his wife.

While narrating the incidents, the child also told police that his father took a sickle and severed his mother's head and fled from the spot.

The three children were in a state of mental agony, told police.
