Lucknow, Jan 7: A high-profile sex racket has been busted by Lucknow police on Tuesday in a raid at a guest house in the posh Gomtinagar locality of the state capital. The cops of have arrested eight persons, including three girls.
Police have also arrested Mahendra Pal Singh, who is said to be the kingpin of the racket. His Toyota Fortuner was recovered from the ground plus two-storey house in a late night operation by circle officers of Gomtinagar and Ghazipur.
Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted an undercover operation by sending one of its personnel to the area.
"The police officer posed as a customer. After the deal was struck, we sent a team to the guest house and arrested some of the people who are involved in the racket," Lucknow SSP Yashasvi Yadav was quoted as saying.
The arrested persons include Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader MP Singh, manager of a private institute Anurag Singh, three customers and three girls. The arrested girls belong to Ghaziabad, J&K and Delhi.
The police said that the racket reached out to customers through a website. The website contained profiles of over 150 girls along with the "service rates". The police feels that several high-profile names will also come to fore as the investigation proceeds.
Cops have recieved information about dozens of websites involved in sex racket. The cyber crime cell has been asked to search kingpins of all these websites and nab them.
