Jaswant Singh files nomination
Jaipur, March 24: Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh, upset over his party's stand on not giving him a ticket of his choice, has filed his nomination from Barmer in Rajasthan as an independent candidate, said sources.

The former Union minister had demanded that he be given poll ticket from Barmer, his home town. But due to stiff opposition from party leaders such as Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP leadership decided to field ex-Congress man Colonel Sonaram Choudhary from the constituency.

Even though leaders like Arun Jaitley had men Jaswant Singh. "Leaders should learn to accept No", said Jaitley in his blogpost, after meeting Jaswant Singh.

Meanwhile, there are speculation that Singh might quit the BJP. When asked about the same by mediapersons on Monday, the leader said that, "I am not doing this. It is the party workers' opinion that I should do it."

In hard hitting comments, Jaswant Singh on Saturday had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was being taken over by "outsiders" and that there was a need to distinguish between the "real" and "fake" BJP.

Jaswant Singh represented Darjeeling in the outgoing Lok Sabha. The BJP has now fielded SS Ahluwalia, formerly of the Congress, from there now.
