LS polls: Jaswant Singh files nomination as independent candidate
The former Union minister had demanded that he be given poll ticket from Barmer, his home town. But due to stiff opposition from party leaders such as Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP leadership decided to field ex-Congress man Colonel Sonaram Choudhary from the constituency.

In hard hitting comments, Jaswant Singh on Saturday had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was being taken over by "outsiders" and that there was a need to distinguish between the "real" and "fake" BJP.
Jaswant Singh represented Darjeeling in the outgoing Lok Sabha. The BJP has now fielded SS Ahluwalia, formerly of the Congress, from there now.
