Leander Paes in legal soup as estranged girlfriend files complaint

landed in a legal soup when his estranged girlfriend Rhea Pillai filed a police complaint against him. Pillai accused Paes of locking her out of her "own house".

According to reports, Pillai along with their daughter Aiyana went to a birthday party at Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee's house and while returning, she was barred from entering their apartment in Mumbai. She was allegedly stopped and abused by a group of people appointed by Paes outside the house.

However, Paes lawyer overruled such allegations saying, "Pillai was trying to gain sympathy, create controversy and stop his parents from staying in the house."

The tennis star recently filed a legal case against Pillai demanding their daughter's custody. He also urged the court to instruct Pillai not to take their daughter out of Mumbai without his consent.

One of Pillai's friends was quoted as saying, "When she returned around 7:30pm, Paes wouldn't let her in. She did not have an extra set of house keys. Paes had posted five goons outside the flat who abused and threatened her constantly."

"Pillai then called the police emergency helpline '103' and a woman constable was sent. As soon as Paes saw the constable, he let Pillai in. But the goons continued to abuse her. Fortunately, Aiyana was still at the birthday bash and was not witness to the goings-on," the friend added.

According to Paes, he first met Pillai in 2003 when the latter had invited the former to attend a session of Art of Living. Later their relationship deepened when Pillai got divorce from her the then husband Sanjay Dutt.
