Captain Tushar Mahajan hailed from Udhampur district of Jammu. Mahajan's last WhatsApp status will move people to tears, as his words had expressed his patriotism.

On Jan 26, the Republic Day, Captain Mahajan's WhatsApp status read, "so jaegi kal lipatkar tirange ke sath, yeh deshbhakti hai sahab, tarikhon per jagti hai" (Tomorrow, patriotism will also sleep, with the folding of the National Flag, it only wakes up on few dates).

Mahajna's Facebook profile showed that he was a follower of revolutionary Shaheed Bhagat Singh and he had the profile picture of the young freedom fighter.

One of the coursemate of Mahajan told OneIndia, "Tushar was a lively person, who had a big heart for his friends."

Senior army officers, including General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Commanding, Lt Gen D S Hooda and several other officers attended the wreath laying ceremony at the Headquarters of Northern Command here.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi range, SSP Udhampur besides other officials of the police and civil administration also paid tributes.

The family members, including Mahajan's father and mother, were present at the ceremony.

"The Army Commander (Northern Command) and other senior officials paid their rich tributes to the brave son of the soil who laid down his life for the country," a Defence spokesman said.

He said the last rites of Captain Tushar will be performed with full military honours this evening at his hometown.

His close friends have created a special Facebook page, dedicated to him, RIP Captain Tushar Mahajan.
