Hopes of the Capital's pub and restaurant owners also came crashing down after Jung's refusal.
Alongwith rejecting the plea of the pub and club owners, Jung said that announcements should be made at least 15 minutes prior to the closure of their outlets by the owners, so that they start winding up.
As per Mail Today, "Urging the Delhi Police to act like ‘mature people', Jung asked them to act only after the stipulated deadline, since several complaints were made against them for shutting down outlets ‘arbitrarily and forcibly'."
"In a meeting held to discuss the issue, Jung has clarified that deadline will not be extended and that their request of granting them some additional time was unreasonable," the officer was quoted as saying in Mail Today.
"He has asked Delhi Police to intervene only if the music is being played loud affecting the residents in the area. If music is being played in a closed premise, then there is no need to interfere," the police officer said.
A senior officer who attended the meeting told Mail Today that after the sudden rise in incidents of drunken brawls at pubs and restaurants, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had ordered his officers to ensure that these outlets shut down by 1 am.
