"Ghosh realised that the sword of punishment is hanging on him for his misdeeds. Like catching at a straw, he wants to save himself by keeping the chief minister in front of him," Chatterjee, the state education minister, said.
"Those who are accused have the loudest of voice", he said. Ghosh, one of the main accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, earlier today prayed before a city court that he should be questioned along with Sudipta Sen and Mamata Banerjee. Another TMC leader Firhad Hakim said Mamata Banerjee is a leader of the masses and "the people are behind her".
"She is a symbol of honesty," Hakim, also state urban development minister, said. Meanwhile, the Congress said that those involved in the Saradha scam should be exposed irrespective of their political affiliations. "We want those involved in the Saradha scam to be exposed.
It should not be seen who belongs to TMC, who belongs to Congress or who belongs to CPI-M. There should be equal justice irrespective of their political affiliation," WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury told reporters here.
