New Delhi, April 28: AAP senior leader Kumar Vishwas on Friday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the recent drubbing in MCD elections in the national capital.

In an interview with a news channel, Kumar Vishwas said the main reason behind Aam Aadmi Party's defeat is "lack of intra-party democracy" and trust deficit with voters. Vishwas also slammed the party for blaming electronic voting machines for its debacle.

"We can't blame EVMs. They aren't main issue. The main issue is mistrust," Vishwas said while adding "The connect with voters was missing. AAP needs to introspect."

AAP PAC member Vishwas also revealed that the decisions are taken just by few people in the party.

The poet-cum-politican also said that Kejriwal should not have asked for the proof of surgical strikes that took place on terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir in September 2016 and he should not have targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over it.

On being asked if there is need to change the leadership in AAP, Kumar Vishwas said, "We will discuss this in the party soon."

AAP MP from Punjab, Bhagwant Mann also said that it is wrong to blame EVMs for the party's defeat.

"Instead of finding faults with EVMs, it is time to start finding faults in the party," he said.

MCD elections were held on April 23 and the counting of votes took place on April 26. Out of the 270 wards, the BJP made a stupendous victory by winning 181 seats, AAP came at a distant second with 48 seats and Congress managed to win just 30 seats. Six independents also made a mark and BSP made its presence felt in three wards and Samajwadi Party got one seat, while JD(U) drew a blank.

Shortly after the poll results were announced, few AAP ministers resigned by taking moral responsibility. AAP MLA Alka Lamba, party's convenor Dilip Pandey, senior party leader Sanjay Singh were among those who resigned from their posts.
