Kolkata: Woman gangraped in moving car, dumped
Kolkata, May 31: A 24-year old woman was gangraped by four to five persons in a moving car in Salt Lake Sector V where she had gone to meet her friend late on Sunday night. Similar to the notorious Park Street gangrape of 2012, the incident throws light on the growing unruliness of a city that was once considered the safest in India.
The girl was waiting for transport when a man approached her asking if she was looking for someone. The girl asked for the direction to an address, which is when the man called someone and an SUV with four to five men arrived.
Soon as the girl got into the car, the men started assaulting her, taking turns in raping her. The girl was then dumped on the roadside in an unconscious state in Sector-1 OF Salt Lake. She was rescued by a mobile unit of the police in the early hours today when a taxi driver drew their attention toward her.
An FIR was lodged with the Electronic Complex Police Station under Salt Lake Sector-V against unknown persons on the basis of the victim's statement. The DC, DD of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, Kankar Prasad Barui said that a massive raid is on to nab the culprits. However, no arrests have been made yet.
