Kolkata, June 29: Now famous college in Kolkata, Scottish Church, prescribed dress code for the students of the girl. The college also banned short skirts, slit skirts and round-neck t-shirts.
The decision of the college authorities sparked controversy as students of the college expressed their disappointment with the prescribed dress code.
A notice, which was issued by the college authority, reads, "Clothing worn to the college should reflect the seriousness and importance of the learning environment. Therefore, students' attire is expected to be based on modesty, neatness and safety on the campus."
The notice also added "The college recommends that students come to college in simple and unostentatious dress suitable for an academic environment."
While girls will not be allowed to wear t-shirts with captions/writings on it, boys have been barred from sporting earrings or studs.
The notice says, "girls will have to wear only full length trousers and "skirts well below knee length without slits. Salwar kameez and sarees should be worn properly."
Meanwhile, students claimed that they will protest against the new rules as they were not consulted by the college authorities before issuing the notice.
