Gurgaon, Dec 31: A day after he was shunted out as Gurgaon Divisional Commissioner, senior IAS officer Pradeep Kasni, on Wednesday Dec 31 alleged that he was removed from his office due to the influence of the land mafia for he was on the verge of uncovering land scams in the region.

As per an Indian Express report, the IAS officer, who was transferred 62nd time in 30 years, alleged that "a lobby, which is active with the land mafia in Gurgaon and other parts of NCR, wanted me out".

Haryana IAS officer blames land mafia for transfer
"Legally, I had nothing to do with land acquisition. I joined in Gurgaon barely a month ago. If I had recommended a certain compensation amount, the government had all the powers to overrule it," Kasni was quoted in the report as saying.

The move comes days after Kasni sent a report on nexus between developers and revenue officials. The development comes within a month Kasni took over the post. He had only a month ago been given his posting as Divisional Commissioner of Gurgaon.

This is 62nd transfer of Kasni in his 30 years of service. Though no official reason has been given for the transfer, a press statement notifying the transfer said Kasni's new posting orders would be issued later.

Meanwhile, Rohtak's commissioner Rajeev Ranjan has been given additional charge of Gurgaon for the time being.

According to a TOI report, some officials said Kasni may have made an error in awarding compensation to farmers for acquiring land for the Manesar-Bawal industrial area in NCR. But, sources close to Kasni said that he had nothing to do with that and he was just an appealing authority.

"......this again is not a mere case of administrative or professional misdemeanour but of a deeper and more malignant conspiratorial gang-up in the office of the collector in favour of the land mafias and to thwart the public interest for private gains and maybe, to subserve one's own narrow selfish interests for which these officials hanker after and manipulate their postings in such "lucrative posts," Kasni has been quoted as saying in the report.
