New Delhi, July 15: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reportedly landed into yet another controversy after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) appointed party leader Naveen Jaihind's wife Swati Maliwal as the next chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

Currently, Maliwal is working as an advisor (grievances) to CM Kejriwal. Maliwal is an RTI activist and the youngest member of India Against Corruption has been associated with Kejriwal since 2006.

AAP appoints Maliwal as next DCW chief

Kejriwal as well as AAP has had estranged relations with the outgoing DCW cheif Barkha Singh and thus appears to have shown its faith in a close aide.

Maliwal's appointment has given a fresh ammo to the opposition which is now questioning the intentions of the government.

Earlier as well, Maliwal's appointment as advisor (grievances) had also triggered a controversy with opposition partied targeting Kejriwal for giving space to people from the party in government.

Maliwal was an software engineer before she quit the fast lane to take up social work and as an RTI activist.

Reacting to the development, former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan told ANI, "AAP has completely gone off the path of alternative politics which it had set out to take. Politically neutral people should be appointed on such posts. AAP also misusing these posts like others."

"This is a clear case of nepotism. AAP does opposite of what they say in public," said PC Chacko, Congress.
