Kejriwal an icon of honest politics, says Yogendra Yadav after being dropped from PAC
New Delhi, March 5: A day after he was removed from party's PAC, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav on Thursday praised leadership qualities of Arvind Kejriwal. He said national convener of AAP is an icon of honest politics. Yadav also said he is not quitting the party he founded.
"Arvind Kejriwal is an icon of honest politics and a symbol of hope to millions of supporters in India and abroad," Yadav was quoted as saying in India Today report.
Earlier in the day, speaking to reporters, Yadav said there was "no bargaining" at the meeting which decided by majority vote to drop him and Prashant Bhushan from the party's top decision-making body.
"I wish to say clearly there was no bargaining in yesterday's (Wednesday) meeting (of the National Executive). The party has taken a decision, we should not discuss (its) proceedings," Yadav told reporters.
Bhushan, a leading Supreme Court lawyer and an AAP founder member, and Yadav, a known political expert, were ousted from the 21-member Political Affairs Committee (PAC).
The charge against them was led by loyalists of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who did not attend the Wednesday meeting as he flew to Bengaluru for treatment for blood sugar and persistent cough.
Yadav's comments followed revelations by AAP leader Mayank Gandhi, who attended the Wednesday meeting, that Yadav and Bhushan had agreed to come out of the PAC honourably but were ejected by majority vote.
Yadav reiterated that he would "neither split nor quit" the AAP, the country's youngest party which stormed to power in Delhi last month with a thumping majority.
"I

he
said.
