Karnataka sends Rs 12 crore bill to TN for conducting Jaya DA case
The bill has details of the court charges, security, fees of lawyers, salary of judges and also the security arrangements made in connection with the case.
Karnataka has sent a bill of Rs 12.04 crore to Tamil Nadu in connection with the Jayalalithaa disproportionate assets case. The bill details the expenditure incurred by Karnataka while conducting the DA case between 2004 and 2016.
The bill has details of the court charges, security, fees of lawyers, salary of judges and also the security arrangements made in connection with the case. The expenses were incurred by the chief accountant, the registrars of the city civil court and the Karnataka high court and the home department.
Law Minister T B Jayachandra has said that a letter has already been written to the chief secretary of Tamil Nadu in this regard.
The break up
Rs 3.78 crore for various departments; Rs 2.86 crore for the city civil court (2004-14); Rs 4.68 crore for the high court (2004-16) and Rs 70.33 lakh for police security (2001-16).
The Supreme Court had ordered transfer of the DA case to Karnataka after it felt that a fair trial would not be possible in Tamil Nadu. The SC also said that the expenses incurred by Karnataka would be borne by Tamil Nadu.
