Bangalore, Oct 7: Jayalalithaa's supporters across the country broke down and began protesting as she has been denied bail. But everyone was surprised when people present in Karnataka High Court burst into laughter as the judge read his final verdict on Tuesday, Oct 7.

According to sources, the judge spoke for around 35 minutes detailing about what each of the defense lawyer had argued in court. While he was speaking about Public Prosecutor Bhavani Singh, everyone in the court burst into laughter as the judge Chandrasekhar said, "PP Bhavani Singh had first told vacation bench he had strong objections against the bail. He then filed strong objections. But today he says no objection."

Bhavani Singh, who has been opposing Jayalalithaa's bail plea claiming that she might abscond if she was granted bail, shocked everyone on Tuesday. He changed his mind and claimed that the prosecution did not have any problem if Jayalalithaa was given conditional bail.

Jayalalithaa and her aides' defence lawyers including Ram Jethmalani waxed eloquent quoting chapter and verse from case laws for four hours. Each one had a point to make and strongly argued that Judge Cunha who convicted all four was biased and the judgement was 'perverse'.

Despite the public prosecutor's no objection, the high court refused to accept Jayalalithaa's bail plea saying, "no grounds for suspension of Jayalalithaa's sentence."

Jayalalithaa and her three aides have been convicted in Rs 66.6 crore disproportionate assets case. They have been lodged in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bangalore. Jayalalithaa has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 100 crore.
