I idolise Rohith Vemula not Afzal Guru: Kanhaiya Kumar
New Delhi, Mar 4: A day after he attacked Narendra Modi dispensation and RSS for implicating him in the sedition case, JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar on Friday addressed the media saying attempts are being made to malign JNU.

Addressing the media persons Kanhaiya said, "I condemn the events that happened on Feb 9, but there wasn't anything seditious about it, however it is the court that must decide. There is a conspiracy to defame JNU."
In his address to the press conference, Kanhaiya said, "Afzal Guru is not my icon, dead Dalit research scholar from Hyderabad Rohith Vemula is."
Speaking over allegations of seditions against his fellow JNU friends Umar Khalid and Anirban he said, "as for allegations against Umar and Anirban, let the court decide the verdict."

"Let me make it clear that I'm not a politician. I am only a student, so I will not run away from your questions, he further added.
Earlier last night, Kanhaiya addressed over 2,500 students and teachers gathered at admin block at JNU.

In his speech Kanhaiya hit out at the Central dispensation for attempting to suppress their voices.
Addressing HRD Minister Smriti Irani he said, "Smriti Irani ji, we are not your children, we are JNUites. Please stop these sedition charges, gives us our fellowships and take moral responsibility for Rohith's death and apprehend those who are responsible for his demise."
