Kalam’s grand nephew Saleem denies reports, says he is a loyal BJP worker
Chennai, Nov 23: House of Kalam in Rameswaram clarified on Monday evening that the name of APJ MJ Sheik Saleem, grand nephew of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, was wrongly attributed to news reports today.
A section of the media had reported that Saleem, who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in September this year, had quit the party.
Speaking to OneIndia from Rameswaram, Saleem said that he continues to be a loyal member of the BJP.
"I am surprised to see my name being propped up in the media reports. I am a loyal BJP worker and have been carrying out all activities silently. I do not want to comment on decision taken by others," Saleem said.

"I have informed the offices of BJP President Shri Amit Shah and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi about today's wrongly-attributed news reports. I have also spoken to BJP National General Secretary and in-charge of Tamil Nadu Shri P. Muralidhar Rao.
I have joined BJP only two months back and I am doing my share of work without any publicity," Saleem said, separately in a clarification issued on Monday evening.
He said the family members are currently focusing their energies to build Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and carry forward the vision of former President without any fanfare.
"Dr Kalam always stayed away from any controversies and we are keen to follow his footsteps," he added.
With too many people claiming to be the chosen ones by Dr Kalam to carry forward his work, the family has now decided to take a close look at their activities.
OneIndia had reported in August this year that House of Kalam wanted to stay away from the limelight.
