He was addressing the press at Mysuru press club after unveiling 'Law Guide', a Kannada monthly magazine and a diary.
Om Prakash expressing concerns over increasing cases of women harassment, said cases of rapes and outraging the modesty of women has been rampant in recent years.
"In an aim to check atrocities launched against women, the police department has developed a new mobile app through which victims can now lodge complaints," he informed.
He observed that cases pertaining to rape and women harassment is less in Karnataka compare to other states. There were stringent legal hurdles earlier to act speedily on such cases.
But after a few amendments made in the IPC (Indian Penal Code), women are courageously coming forward to file complaints seeking justice, Prakash said.
