Justice Sudip Ranjan Sen sworn in as Megahalaya HC judge

Shillong, Jan 7: Former Additional Judge Sudip Ranjan Sen was sworn in as judge of the Meghalaya High Court here today.

Chief Justice P C Pant administered the oath of office to Justice Sen at a packed court room, which was attended by senior government officials and advocates. Sen had served as additional judge of the Gauhati High Court from February 2, 2012, before being sworn in as additional judge of the Meghalaya High Court in March 23 last year.


He was born on 9th March, 1957 in Shillong, where he did his schooling and college.  He obtained his LL.B. degree from the Shillong Law College under NEHU.

He joined the Bar on 28.03.1989 where he practised in both civil and criminal matters. He was the Asstt. Public Prosecutor and Addl. Govt. Pleader of Meghalaya since 1997 till 7th July, 2000.

He was appointed as the Additional District and SEssions judge after he passed the Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service Examination in 2000.

Served as the district and sessions judge in January, 2002 with special power to try cases under NDPS, PC Act, WAQF Tribunal, Land Acquisition.
