New Delhi, April 18: Another jolt to the Congress Party after its leader Arvinder Singh Lovely on Tuesday joined Bharatiya Janata Party in presence of the party chief Amit Shah in New Delhi. The ticket distribution in Congress created a stir among the leaders in March.
It is believed that ahead of Municipal Corporation of Delhi polls that is scheduled to be on April 23, the Congress has been facing trouble as some of its senior leaders resigned from the party after a dispute over ticket distribution.
On April 2, the Congress senior leader Dr AK Walia submitted his resignation letter after expressing his misery over ticket distribution. Supporting the Walia's resignation, Arvinder Singh Lovely had said that the sentiments of senior leaders have been hurt. He added that the senior leaders like Walia are like assets to the party and the party should maintain the respect for its senior leaders.
Soon after AK Walia another leader Amrish Gautam, a former deputy speaker, a Dalit leader and three-time MLA joined BJP. Many other Congress leaders had threatened to quit the party as well.
