Johnny Lever to join NGO's appeal for odd-even traffic pattern

Mumbai, Jan 11: Comedian actor Johnny Lever has supported the initiative launched by a Mumbai NGO seeking to replicate in the city the odd-even arrangement of movement of cars on the lines of the pattern introduced in Delhi recently.

The 58-year-old actor comedian would participate in the drive of Mumbai Youth Association (MYA) to curb pollution at suburban linking road in Bandra on January 26 by appealing to the people to voluntarily adopt the odd-even traffic pattern, the NGO said in a release here.

The NGO has urged the authorities to initially introduce the odd-even traffic system in Mumbai from January 26 for a few days till month-end. If this endeavour is successful, it can be replicated in future, Association President Pradeep Bhavnani said in a release.

As per the arrangement, cars with registration numbers ending in odd numbers may be allowed on the roads only on odd dates like 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9. Similarly, cars with registration numbers ending in even numbers should be allowed on roads only on even dates such as 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, it added.
