Session's judge Sushma Khoshal directed the court to arrest Anurag Namdeo, 30 for the brutal murder of Dr Jaishree, 26. The latter was a resident of Karond locality in Bhopal and student in Gandhi Medical College.
As Anurag was preparing for his bank exams, he had put up with the girl's family, which is when he fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. Since he had not qualified in any of the bank examinations, he was working as an executive in a private bank on a contract basis.
After Jaishree and her father refused his proposal, father Ghanshyam Das Namdeo fixed his daughter's wedding with Rohit Namdeo, a post graduate from the same college where the girl was studying.
Following her engagement, Anurag started threatening Jaishree and took the final step on May 8th last year when he came to the marriage venue and shot her.
As he tried to shoot Rohit, his bullet missed and hit a guest's leg. The people there overpowered Anurag and thrashed him. Meanwhile, Jaishree died on the spot.
Jaishree's family and friends, expressing disappointment at the court's judgement, demanded that Anurag should be sentenced to death. Her father said,"He should have awarded death penalty instead of life imprisonment. He had killed my daughter on wedding dais in front of thousands of people."
He further added,"I will approach the court and demand for reconsideration of its decision. I have lost my only child. I have full faith in judiciary and also believe that it will listen to my plea."
