Ranchi, Feb 2: Looks like bad days are yet not over for the Congress party. At a time when party is battling with series of problems including recent electoral debacles, national leadership and infighting within party, this news will further vitiate their overflowing cup of woes.
Reportedly, some Congress leaders in Jharkhand are contemplating to leave the party. It is being said that out of six legislators, four are mulling to join the Saffron brigade.
According to TOI report, differences among party members came to fore after party chose Pakur MLA Alamgir Alam over MLAs Manoj Yadav and Irfan Ansari as the legislature party leader. The grapevine is that BJP may offer plum post to these disenchanted Congress legislators.
When asked about the reason why they are jumping the party ship, one of whining MLA said, "No one wants to leave his own house. But when the situation turns adverse, no one wants to stay either. The atmosphere has turned too bad to survive. The state leaders misguide the central leadership and do not tell them what the real situation is".
In 81-member Jharkhand assembly, BJP has 37 MLAs. As party lacked the required majority(41), it took support of Ajsu Party having five MLAs. Now, if 4 of the Congress MLAs will support the saffron party, then it will no longer require Ajsu's crutches and party will be in majority on its own in the State which has been notorious for political instability.
However, Congress party has reacted sharply over the news and alleged BJP of luring their party MLAs with lofty offers.
It seems BJP is trying to fish in troubled water. Pradeep Sinha, who is BJP's spokesperson assertively said, "The state has got first majority government and people who want to work for the development of the state are welcome."
