Jeweller shot dead in Haryana's Rohtak
Rohtak, April 22: A local businessman was shot dead on Friday by three unidentified assailants over a suspected property dispute while he was taking a morning walk here, police said.
Ashok Kaka, 59, a close aide of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was shot dead in a park in the upscale Model Town area.
Kaka was chairman of The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited during the earlier Congress rule.
Kaka, who owned a jewellery shop on Railway Road here, also led a recent agitation by jewellers over the proposed imposition of excise duty by the Centre on non-silver jewellery.
Rohtak Senior Superintendent of Police Shashank Anand told reporters that police have got information that Kaka was involved in a land dispute with his brother and another party.
"We are investigating the case," Anand said.
The SSP said the body had been sent for post-mortem.
